Nigerian UFC Athlete Israel Adesanya Knocks Out Robert Whittaker to Win the UFC Middleweight Title

Israel Adesanya captured the UFC Middleweight belt at UFC 243 with a dominating win over Robert Whittaker. Israel was more than dominating, he annihilated Robert. The fight went down at the Marvel Stadium in October of 2019.

Round 1: Israel Adesanya scores a huge knockdown

The match starts off a little slow with the two fighters trying to gauge each other’s approach. They danced around the ring for a while before things got real. Robert didn’t seem like his old self. He had switched things up and was trying to lead the fight. Israel Adjusted well and took Robert to the task. He landed quite a few impactful blows that put Whittaker in an iffy position.

Israel connected with a perfect knock in the final seconds of the first round. Robert scrambled to the canvas. But he was saved by the horn. If not for the horn, that would have been it for Robert. Robert was in a compromisable position. Adesanya heard the horn just seconds before he could land the finishing move. Kudos to Adesanya for being a great sportsperson!

Round 2:

Round 2 saw Robert land a few impactful punches on Adesanya. But Adesanya being Adesanya, remained composed throughout this round. He showed great boxing and kick-boxing skill with his defense techniques as well. He was quick to slither away and respond to Robert’s advances.

When in close range Whittaker looked uneasy and in a hurry. There was no sense of calm over him. He was very ecstatic about his approach. Adesanya capitalized on this. With a swift counter with his right and a massive blow with his left hook knocked Whittaker out. That’s it. It was all over within a flash.

Israel Adesanya had just become the Middleweight champion! Adesanya danced and shot rounds in celebration. In the post-fight interview, Adesanya said, “He threw everything we expected. We had everything planned from Plan A to Z”.It‘s unreal. They said I have no knockout power.” Adesanya also added. “

Adesanya now will go up against Yoel Romero at UFC 248. His too is going to be nothing short of explosive. Both Fighters are experienced. They both want their hands on the title. Will Adesanya come out undefeated or will Romero shut Adesanya down with a win?
