Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reiterated his commitment towards promotion of transparency and accountability in governance.
Governor Ganduje made disclosure on Monday when he received leadership of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN),
Kano/Jigawa District Society on courtesy call, a statement signed by
the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abba Anwar, said.
Ganduje assured that Kano state government would continue to partner with the
institution to achieve its objectives of transparency andn accountability in governance,
noting that no administration could
succeed without transparency and accountability.
He said, “Synergy between Kano state government and the institute is
necessary in order to promote accountability in governance.”
The governor commended the institute for its persistent assistance to the
Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, saying
“We are aware of the assistances rendered to the university by ICAN which included
establishment of 300-Seater Theatre,
donation of books and training of the institution personnel.”
Ganduje presented to the leadership of the institute a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O)
of a piece of land located at Bandirawo City for the construction a
befitting secretariat for the Kano/Jigawa District
Society of ICAN.
Earlier, President of the Society Ado Mohammed Abubakar commended Ganduje
for his continued support to development of ICAN, assuring that the leadership of
the institute would do its best to ensure that the partnership between
Kano state government and the institute works effectively.
“The partnership is encouraging and is way of promoting good governance and
efficient service delivery. Our District Society will work assiduously to see
that we strengthen accountability in
governance,” he assured.
