The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has declared that the preparation of another police unit which will supplant the disbanded Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS) will start one week from now.

The IGP who uncovered this when Davido visited him in office on Monday October 12 over the continuous #ENDSARS fights, said there is have to get another structure to do the obligations of the old police unit.

Adamu vowed to explore all instances of fierceness and carry culprits to book, while likewise uncovering that the new unit will be insight – driven, appropriately prepared and just follow up on exceptional events that require their consideration.

He said;

We just disbanded yesterday so protesters should calm down and give us time to fix the problem. The general public will be part of the process of getting a new outfit.

“I’m talking to you so I will keep talking to many others and get civil societies involved and get their input towards the new unit.

On the issue of compensating families of those affected by SARS brutality, the IGP said it would be addressed when investigations are concluded.

Adamu further revealed that though the officers of the disbanded SARS would be retrained and given other responsibilities in the Force, they will not be reabsorbed into the new unit.
