President Muhammadu Buhari has departed for London, UK for medical treatment shortly after he received the 82 released Chibok girls. The president has rarely been seen in public for a while fueling speculation about his state of health. He left the country on Sunday, May 7 after he met with the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate president, Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara. These and other headlines are on Nigerian newspapers today, May 8: Vanguard newspaper According to Vanguard, President Muhammadu Buhari was last night on his way to London for another round of medical treatment for his yet undisclosed ailment. No duration has been given for the medical vacation. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, gave notice of the trip on his twitter handle last night at about 8.25 p.m., saying “PMB travels tonight for medical follow-up. Length of stay to be determined by London doctors. Govt to function normally under VP.” The President himself subsequently confirmed his departure and his notification of the trip to the National Assembly in a series of tweets from his personal twitter handle. The President’s return to London will be his fourth medical vacation to the United Kingdom since his inauguration on May 29, 2015. This Day newspaper
